The Golden Steer Steakhouse is a 1958 steakhouse at 308 W Sahara Ave, just off the north end of the Strip. Everything below comes from the restaurant’s own Las Vegas page, checked on November 1, 2026. Prices and policies change, so treat this as a snapshot and confirm before you go.

Short answer: Golden Steer opens at 4:30 PM every day (last seating 9:45 PM), enforces a smart-casual dress code, takes bookings only through its own site or by phone, and lists steaks from $76 to $145 à la carte.

The history the restaurant tells

The Golden Steer’s own timeline: it opened in 1958 as a frontier-style steakhouse, became a late-night spot for Sands headliners by 1965, and kept a “Rat Pack section” where that group sat. In the 1980s, it says, Tony Spilotro ran the Gold Rush Pawn Shop nearby and dined at the Steer with his lawyer Oscar Goodman, and the dining scenes in Casino were real episodes inside the restaurant. The Signorelli family bought it in 2001; the restaurant says the first closure in 65 years came during COVID in 2020. It now has four private dining rooms: the Mob Room, the Western Lounge, the Gamblers Den and the Armory.

What locals say online

Public threads are mixed rather than glowing. In an r/LasVegas thread asking about off-Strip steakhouses, one poster asked whether the Golden Steer is worth it or mostly social-media hype. In a more recent r/LasVegas thread about Strip steakhouses, a commenter said the food quality didn’t stand out to them but the service and old-Vegas atmosphere did. Those are individual opinions, summarized from search results, not our verdict: we haven’t eaten there for a review yet, and our review rules mean we won’t score it until we’ve paid for a meal.
