Behind the reviews
The review template
Every field below must be filled from the visit itself before a review can publish. Empty fields block it.
This is the skeleton every Meat.Vegas review is written on. It exists so you can compare two steakhouses on the same terms, and so a missing receipt or an unchecked health card is obvious to us before it's obvious to you.
| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Disclosure line | First line of the review. "We paid for this meal." or exactly what was comped and by whom. |
| Restaurant, address, area | Copied from the restaurant’s own website, with the link. Area uses the six areas on the review grid. |
| Cuisine | One of: steakhouse, Korean barbecue, churrascaria, prime rib, smokehouse barbecue, tacos & carne asada. |
| Visit date(s) and time | Each visit listed separately. Lunch and dinner menus differ, so we say which. |
| Reviewer | The name of the person who ate the meal and wrote the review. |
| What we ordered | Every dish and drink. For beef: the cut, the weight on the menu, the grade the menu claims, and the doneness we asked for versus what arrived. |
| What it cost | Subtotal, tax, tip and total from the receipt, plus party size. Receipt kept on file. |
| Health card | The Southern Nevada Health District grade card we saw on the day, and the latest inspection date in the district’s online records on the day we publish. |
| Reservations, dress, parking | Only what we saw or what the restaurant’s own site says, each with its source. |
| Verdict | Go, Go if (with the condition spelled out), or Skip. One paragraph on why. |
| Photos | Our own photos from the visit, or none. No restaurant press photos dressed up as ours. |
| Revisit log | Dated notes added on each return visit, closure or ownership change. |
What a review never contains
- Ratings, quotes or scores copied from other review sites.
- Text written by the restaurant, its PR firm, or a tool standing in for the reviewer.
- Prices or hours we didn't see or couldn't source.
- A verdict on dishes we didn't eat.
